Trump-Kim mtg: Dr Strangeglove....how I learnt.....to love the BOMB...

The events of the past year or so have been breathtaking as we all hurtled through a highly surreal cocktail of accelerating climate change and global warming, mounting debt, terror, AI, rise of Trump, brexit....though the different elements of this heady brew have been building up over the past few decades....the climax of this ianthropogenic drama on a global stage is approaching fast ....

Few scenes of this episode have been so symbolic of the crazy times we live...recently Donald Trump completed his 100 days...which culminated with a day of sheer comic interviews which trump gave...which were bizarre.... Suddenly out of the blue he waxed eloquent on Kim and said he would be honoured to meet him ....this conjured up the scene of a Trump Kim meeting...reminded me of Kubrick's classic Dr Strangeglove: how I learnt to stop worrying and love the bomb....perhaps the greatest movie of last century...things cannot get zanier...

This frequent bipolar mood shifts of the supreme commander in chief of American forces...the super brat who tweets at 3 am in the morning...maybe is mirroring the present bipolar nature of humanity, the Americans, climate......there have been insinuations that perhaps trump is high on cocaine at 3 am....since no so called sane person can stay awake till 3 am...and keep on tweeting stream of consciousness style....maybe we cannot blame him....for having to resort to coke....at least he not into alcohol...which is such scourge of humanity like hard drugs.....cocaine is a high society safety valve which helps them cope with reality.....

During the 60s bored housewives in uk were resorting to mother's little helper immortalised by the Rolling Stones....to escape out of their boring lives...basically by popping yellow amphetamine pills...most of humanity is looking for escape routes for coping with life....be it cinema, alcohol, accumulating money, binge eating, drugs.....Clinton claimed he had not inhaled marijuana...Obama was open about his grass days...now US has a president who does not drink...but at the age of 70 is so full of energy...that too at 3 am....

Coming back to that scene to come when Trump meets Kim....like two trigger happy Cowboys meeting...atta boy...two of them with fingers on the dreaded nuclear button...then we have Putin with his nuke button...then Iran getting closer to nukes...Pakistan with over 100 nuke missiles...terrorists almost armed with dirty bombs...presaged by TV serials like Jack Bauer's 24....so what are we talking off...in a world with nukes having proliferated to such a level...a Trump Kim meeting is no great deal...at least it will be held in the splendour of Mar-a-lago gilded drawing room with ivanka and jarred in tow...

It really does not matter I guess what trump says whether it's u turns like breaking up big banks while dismantling the Dodd-Frank regulations....or gyrating around healthcare...or climate change as a Chinese hoax....he has every right to speak out mind...since in the first place why are we in this predicament today....isn't it after eight years of the most suave president USA ever had? ....and Clinton and the Bushes before Obama....with all his finesse Obama could not get most of his acts passed by the congress...hence he ruled by executive orders...only this time it's a bit different ....trump has to contend with the courts and judges who are forever placing obstacles to his executive orders...but now trump probably knows that eventually he can take these cases to the Supreme Court where he has a conservative majority...

Will be a new style of ruling through the court orders....its indeed a bipolar or multi polar schizoid world where we are governing through court decrees...maybe another face of fascism...maybe democracy and fascism are the obverse sides of the same coin...look at Philippines with Duterte ....person who is ruling through bayonets in the name of eliminating drug menace...but ask a lot of filipinos who swear by Duterte ...with an 80% popularity rating....

While in India Modi has emerged like a messiah to take India to its rightful place among nations....yet the MSM media and the English speaking elite who held sway since india's independence....do not waste a moment in tearing down Modi at every turn...the most glaring was the recent elections in UP the most populous state in India...where all the polls and columns forecasted a mixed outcome with no party gaining majority...but Modi proved everyone hugely wrong by winning by a landslide...in a way when Modi won the general elections in 2014.. no one really gave him a chance....that is how off the pulse of the ppl the media was....

It's indeed a strange strange world which is bipolar at several levels...the days of the 60s of love and flower power have morphed during the past 50 years or so into a hate festival...hate seems to be a strong motif everywhere...one common theme seems to be resources becoming scarce. The different strands of the new normal are: increasing inequalities, too many ppl, hyper competition, climate becoming harsher with famines, warming, flooding, pollution...., terror, violence, guns, drugs, promiscuity...... On the flip side AI and robotics are engulfing all walks of life...humans who control tech are the new ruling class.... only survivors of the coming climate armageddon.  .....

On my ninth trip to modern Rome. Crazier and zanier. Time running out. We are indeed in the thick of fake times. People are hurling accusations about fake news. But we are all members of a fake society, which is part of larger fake reality. We have all surrendered to the fake Surreal indeed. No one has the courage to put an end to the spiralling insanity which is running out of control. I am taking refuge in the music of Atoms for Peace and Radiohead which seem to be only truth if ever there is one. Wish there was some herbs to ease the pain of existence. Yes human existence in the 2010s is at the closest to the EDGE....

We are in a hyper loop of alternate reality wedged between too many universes each trying to take the centre stage edging out the others. Too many planes of truth / untruth, reality/ unreality/ surreality mingling, intermingling...difficult to unravel the multitudinous strands... in order to reach.....

No one is interested in addressing the root causes of our existential, geophysical, metaphysical, psychological predicaments...all paying lip service while carefully safeguarding their hidden agendas...glossing over the truth...which is so relative...which serves their narrow selfish motives...

The recents weeks have witnessed a spike in extreme weather events across the globe. Australia is in the throes of an unprecedented heat wave. Sydney hitting 47 c for a few days. India too had an early heat wave unusual for this time of the year.  Delhi min temp 5 c above normal. Chicago has had the mildest winter in ages. Had not snowed much. Mid and northeast USA experienced 65-70 f recently which is most unusual for Feb. I am sure similar anomalies must be plaguing other parts of the world as well. We are too attuned to the new climate norms ...fake climate...to be perturbed by these aberrations which insidiously have crept under our skin and do not bother us much. As I keep harping like the proverbial frogs in boiling water... There are several among us diehard sceptics who still pout that climate change is fake.....

Strange but true...Trump wants to stop migrants from seven radical Islam terror breeding ground nations.... but ppl are protesting their guts out against this ban... agree it was a botched up implementation as it prevented green cards and other similar ppl from entering... but basically how can ppl welcome refugees from these failed countries without extreme vetting, etc ...western nations are indeed under seize from Islam... recently in London near Downing Street there were thousands of Muslims screaming allahu Akbar...and the other day in Times Square NYC thousands of Muslims protesting... indeed this is the new norm... the fake new world..where the unthinkable is the new norm...are these the rumblings of the Nostradamus crusades of the third millennium...indeed too much of surreal  fakeness to accept...the scary future where in few decades countries like Belgium, France and Germany may have Muslim majority population as they are multiplying faster than others....as it is globally resources are depleting rapidly and insufficient to meet gargantuan needs of US influenced consumerism of the 7 bn+ popn....last thing we need is population explosion and that too which spews terror and hatred...

Extreme poverty and violence are spawning waves of migrants from Africa and terror infested Middle East....this is upsetting the delicate global balance .... France is in ruins ...Paris one of the greatest cities is close to anarchy... migrants have virtually invaded the city...many of the fashionable boulevards are filled with unkempt migrants along with their belongings...with frequent skirmishes between them.. Germany too has let in thousands of migrants maybe as an atonement for the holocaust .... there was a news item recently that several churches had been desecrated...Sweden and other countries which have been kind to migrants are also facing similar problems..Australia also has started barring migrants from entering..USA has over 11 mn illegal immigrants...whom Trump wants to deport... But again these poor 11mn immigrants are not the radical Islam types......like in Europe...so far society was divided on these issues...but of late patience of ppl is wearing out and populist govts are being voted to power who want to stop illegal migrants from entering...

Fake wars are being pursued to enrich the pockets of the capitalistic military industrial complex...trump bent on flexing his ageing muscles and the might of United States...dropped the most powerful ever non nuclear bomb in Afghanistan yesterday...week or ago 59 dreaded tomahawk missiles hit Syria...in an attempt to exterminate the ISIS..but it seems 24 hours later that Isis facility was up and running...really don't know whose war is it...trump sprang this missile surprise maybe to impress Xi of China whom he was meeting for dinner at his extravagant palace in Florida...or may be to divert the attention of the MSM which was then gunning after his Russia connections...now trumpie is threatening to take out the nuclear arsenal of North Korea's Kim....and Kim in turn threatening to retaliate with nukes on American soil...indeed this is the craziest of fake times...where nothing seems real..anymore...a surreal unreal fake nightmarish dream....

Read a touching piece recently on how albatrosses in an almost virgin island called Midway in the Pacific are dying by eating plastic washed onshore from across the ocean. Obama visited that Pacific atoll recently to declare it a zone to be protected from ravages of climate change. Millions of tons of plastic have been dumped on the beds of the oceans. This toxic wasteland ....wastewater has been killing fish and harming underwater flora and fauna and also the pristine coral reefs near Australia.

Even in our cities in India where bovine population is high and freely move around on roads, cows end up eating plastic from garbage dumped on roadsides. Truly urban waste disposal is becoming a nightmare. The are narrow roads in Bengaluru where garbage dumps measure 15' by 4' rising to a height of 6' or so ....an open eyesore emitting stench and a veritable health and fire hazard. Bovine and canine population feed of these toxic dumps....

Everything seems to be spiralling out of control. Burgeoning human population. The Club of Rome advocated controlling human population few decades ago. Seven billion and still counting. Read somewhere by 2050 it may cross 9 billion ..... temperatures are soaring globally.... it was attributed to the El Niño effect ....now even after El Niño is over there is no respite from global warming.... this will lead to intensifying migrants crisis.... leading to pressure on dwindling resources... rising crime...terror...

Humans now are consuming more resources than mother earth can provide .... hence they are over exploiting the planet for their ever increasing extravagant lifestyles... In fact systematically murdering planet earth... raping and pillaging nature....indeed mass murderers all of us..

We have become immune to everything in our mad pursuit for growth, wealth, instant gratification, possessions, cars, energy intensive lifestyles, sex, endless entertainment, travel.....trampling on everything in order to achieve the mad goals. ...all natural laws of nature, economics, climate...are thrown out of reckoning....the capitalistic system encourages hyper competition for sheer survival..this insane anthropogenic age is gradually hurtling us towards a climate collapse....

Death of Seasons...CLIMOCALYPSE..

Feeling numbed and terrified by the onslaught of climate change which is indeed intensifying at an exponential pace... Events are looking surreally unreal....the past few months have been unbelievable..... Reached California about a month ago...normally would have been a great holiday in sunny California...but since late December there has been almost continuous rain and snow in most of this beautiful state... Since we arrived temperatures have averaged about 3 to 5c below normal...

Meanwhile in other parts of US there has been topsy turvy of seasons....actually in most parts of the world the normal seasonal patterns have been disrupted...the northeast of US experienced an unusually early spring with temp reaching 65/70f in the wake of a winter which did not happen .... in fact in many places trees and plants started flowering about 25 days earlier than normal after the so called mild winter...strangely in a few places especially on the northeast coast of US there was a raging winter storm and polar vortex in some places few days ago...finally the real winter arrived......the poor confused trees and plants do not know what's has hit them...an apocalypse....

The other day as I was writing this blog the max forecast for the day was 22c...by mid day the temp in Santa Clara had hit 24c and only then the forecast for max was then changed to 28c....this was strange since the previous day's max was 25...ironically we are in the heartland of the IT revolution....and the weather forecasting algorithms are now totally flummoxed by the strange turnarounds of the climate / weather conundrum...temps are going seesaw .....weather no doubt is fickle as the old adage goes...but there was a pattern in the madness....now with climate change at an advanced stage of progress we are truly on a random walk...patterns which can be perhaps deciphered only by AI mathematicians.....

Yes truly we are on the cusp of an inflexion point in the planet's lifetime....the death of seasons and all that we knew as normal...from now on the pattern of seasons which we have all been accustomed to since time immemorial will undergo significant changes...the all too familiar cycles of winter, spring, summer, monsoon, autumn, winter are changing and the seasons seem to be merging into each other...abnormal is the new norm...this is happening in all facets of life on Earth..humans too are changing drastically...the more so called evolved societies of Europe and North America are exhibiting decline of marriage as an institution and rise of same sex unions and asexual behaviour....similar behaviour has been observed within nature and other species...

This year Australia has experienced its hottest ever summer...record highest temps have been recorded in most of the major cities...in fact majority of house holds with air conditioning found it searing and were paralysed by the 45c temp....even in parts of India it was 45c last summer...at this rate there will be climate refugees from these places which will become uninhabitable during summer...read that New South Wales is reeling under record precipitation and unprecedented flooding....

....few countries in South America like Brazil and Peru are going through torrential flooding as I write....in fact Peru has been it seems hit by successive years of El Niño...unprecedented....Europe too has been undergoing unseasonal rains and flooding. In UK 100 year flooding events are now occurring almost annually...

Arctic and Antarctica ice surface is diminishing at the fast clip...huge swathes of ice are breaking away and drifting into the sea....the majestic emperor penguins of the Antarctica are at peril along with thousands of other animals, fish and birds which facing extinction within the next 20/30 years...scientists have predicted that two thirds of animals and other creatures will be extinct in another two three decades...ocean temperatures are rising alarmingly....the great coral reef off Australia is getting bleached and dying...fish are dying due to the toxic oceans and fall in oxygen levels ......this is compounded by humans trawling and exploiting the oceans for exotic seafood for their insatiable palettes ...

The Sudan famine is yet another instance when cruel climatic conditions are rendering several regions barren...millions are at risk...and with rising temperatures several other populated regions of the world such as India are going to face famines during the next couple of decades....global population which has crossed 7 bn is rising at a frightening rate..especially in the poorer and backward communities and countries....natural resources are depleting fast including potable water and groundwater resources...most of the once mighty rivers are running dry and have become shrunken rivulets and often not able to empty into the seas...all this has occurred during the past 50 years or so...in my lifetime I have seen the Mahanadi (great river) in Odisha which used to be 5 kms at its widest during the 60s reduced to a shadow of its majestic beauty...

All continents are experiencing abnormal weather  and seasonal patterns over last couple of years or so which has intensified during the past six months or so. A frightening trend to say the least. Sometimes feel paranoid that an exponential climate change has started....CLIMOCALYPSE close at hand...

Ironically in the time of such climate change USA has a president who thinks climate change is a Chinese hoax...Trump and the entrenched climate change sceptics do not want to reduce high energy intensive lifestyles...instead they want to increase coal use under so called clean coal technology...and increase shale gas and fracking...indeed very depressing that whatever little chance humanity had in staving off the climate collapse ....is being frittered away by the likes of Trump and his cronies...

even the climate change believers with their Paris accord I fear can do little to reverse the momentum which climate collapse has gathered...the efforts by us are too little and too late...nobody wants to slow down our energy intensive lifestyles...or tackle the root causes....the mad pursuit for bigger, better, faster in all spheres of our lives in the name of so called better quality of life is squarely responsible for mounting carbon emissions ....this is exemplified by cars which are the modern toys of doom ....most the respected names of car manufacturers have being bringing out more powerful cars which are claimed to be more fuel efficient...till recently it was discovered that several such companies like Volkswagen, Renault...had been cheating in their claims that emissions had been considerably reduced in their new models....the deep state will go to any extent to protect its financial and evil anthropogenic interests..

Inspite of a quantum increase in extreme climate events the media is not reporting it in a holistic way....it merely reports the events as they occur without attempting to join the dots and paint the big picture....read an interesting paper by Brad Plumer in Vox...where he says if planet earth has to survive it has to reach zero carbon emission by 2050....which indeed is well nigh impossible ...suddenly the surreal landscapes of the next few decades till ...the 2020s...30s...and 40s...loom up....mankind has to give up his love affair with internal combustion cars by 2030... which seems highly improbable ....there has been a sudden spurt in dark foreboding research during the past few days...all of which seem to be pointing at 2050 as a kind of ballpark doomsday.....

Trump’s unenviable task of reviving a nation in decline ….

..genesis of anti-establishment

Strange are the ways socio economic compulsions work. During the 60s when i was in my teens… there was an overpowering anti establishment wave in the US… it was the age of revolution.. grass.. woodstock… rock n roll… dylan.. stones..india… nepal… youth revolted against the existing mores of society...wars in korea...vietnam...mccarthyism..america policing the world...lies which the government told its citizens...we in india also went through this tumultuous anti-establishment phase..with the birth of naxalites…

The 60s and the 70s were rocked by the flower power movement of a sizeable part of the youth in america..the spock generation started rebelling against the overarching establishment which felt it was their bounden duty to police the world and fight wars against the so called evils of communism...it was true that communist regimes were were muzzling the freedom of their people...had dictators as their heads...like in the erstwhile soviet union, china and a handful of other regimes…

But the 60s rebellion whimpered out...the pothead generation grew up and gradually integrated with mainstream america...took jobs...became successful...liked to wave their liberal and left leaning credentials...formed part of the democratic bulwark and the establishment...all of us idolised the kennedys...camelot...their martyrdom lent a hallow to the kennedys...only later we became critical and it became common knowledge that the kennedys were a royalty with special privileges...cavorting with nymphs in the white house pools...with marilyn monroe… scions of a wealthy kennedy family which had created wealth through the armaments industry...as establishment as the rockefellers..only they were not part of the GOP… they were democratic…

This 60s liberal generation also spawned the clintons...his famous line “i did not inhale it” when asked whether he smoked cannabis… this talented family took over usa in 1992...after the 80s reagan years… they more or less continued in the footsteps of the reagan's GOP policies...since the reagans… who lowered taxes.. inequalities in US started soaring… violence too.. all these intensified through the bush..clinton..bush...obama years… crony capitalism prospered to new heights… the economic bubble expanded..first signs of imbalances surfaced when enron and worldcom collapsed in the early 2000s…(pl see my blogpost on newgrammaroflife.blogpost.com dated 15-5-2014 which was written in 2002 titled MILLENIUM MUSINGS: Pressures of Modern Civilisation) ...these were brushed off as minor blips…

..too much debt

Giant corporations leveraged higher and higher and also several economies...wall street too leveraged to stratospheric levels of debt-equity ...sometimes to insane levels of above 30 … other exotic weapons of mass destruction called derivatives and collateral backed securities also proliferated.. aided and abetted by the FED, SEC, credit raters...then came the financial meltdown of 2008.. came along obama..and all he did was to give a lifeline to these scheming get-rich bankers from tax payers money.. once these evil monsters revived a bit...they relapsed back to their devious ways of crooking the usa and rest of the world...now several banks like deutsche bank etc are drowning in derivatives and are in deep coma in the icu..on govt ventilators…

Migrants crisis has rocked europe and usa… unemployment rocketing higher… it is at this juncture that donald trump has arrived like a white messiah to save the american people from the crony obama-clinton-goldman sachs-wall street grip...ironically under the flag of the conservative republicans...while the so called left liberal clintons are in bed with the crony bankers...all the more ironical because donald’s own party apparatchiks had all but abandoned him during the run up to the elections.. he was treated like a pariah..

Sad even sanders … was bought over by the clintons..even the obamas did about 40 rallies for the failing clinton campaign...which was unprecedented in history..in a rigged election where clintons with their money power from special interests and superior election machinery ...took busloads of voters from their homes to poll centers for early voting… apart from other help of the state machinery sanctioned by obama...even 80% of media shut out trump...looked as it was an election in india’s notorious backward states where there is rampant poll rigging sometimes….

In the end donald outwitted hillary ...even after spending a fraction on the election compared to hillary ...who was supported by the entire corporate america, it titans of silicon valley...truth prevailed...and unlikely donald..the joker of the pack.. not even supported by his own GOP fully….pulled off the impossible ….

But trump faces a near impossible task of reviving a nation which sadly is in deep comatose state on life support systems...even a hillary win would not have helped one jot ….crippling debt which has more than doubled during obama...highest ever inequalities...soaring levels of people under food stamps, 45 mn below poverty line, searing inner cities violence, heroin addiction, record illegal immigrants pouring in through open borders, refugees from isis infested syria, homegrown terror, lowest levels of labour participation rates, stubborn unemployment, crumbling healthcare, ever increasing gun violence, climate change induced extreme weather events ...which the GOP does not believe in.. rising mental illness...obesity.. crumbling infrastructure..79k bridges in urgent need of repairs...potholes in roads...stuck in meaningless wars abroad.. Isis expanding footprint...russia flexing its muscles...chinese dragon breathing fire over south china seas…

Rest of the world is also in crisis mode...europe is in tatters...only the brics and other emerging markets are in growth mode...but overall global gloom and doom...growth rates are at all time lows...rising protectionism and autarky… europe under siege of migrants...climate change threatening to change economic geography of huge swathes of the world...isis spreading to 30 countries...

Indeed a daunting task trying to pull US out of this morass...a nation riddled with contradictions...high labour costs which has made it unprofitable to manufacture in usa...hence reviving manufacturing profitably in usa seems to be contradictory with high labour costs...again to prop up profits...several companies have outsourced their back offices to low cost countries...deep nexus between health insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, pharmaceutical companies, FDA, diagnostic providers, surgeons… similarly in the food industry nexus between FDA, food research, agriculture, food industry, hotels, restaurants….

..indeed surreal times like flogging a dead horse..will be most interesting how this story spins out.. the trump reality show… sit back… take out the popcorn… and watch the next four years and decade unfold...not only usa but the rest of the world since we live on an interdependent planet…...societal decline and sickness… mounting economic woes .. finally the biggest game changer will be climate collapse…. with mother earth gasping for breath as the anthropocene acts of humans are increasing exponentially….

titanic struggle for soul of america....

A titanic struggle is waging on for the control of the eco soul mind of America between the deplorables lead by don quixote and powerful ruling class. The inner core of the empire is rotten. So ironical that both sides are so steeped in excesses of all the vices of an effete society.. but hurling accusations at each other both of which are guilty of. Indeed very sad that the age of great leaders is over...perhaps only Modi of India is the last of the Mohicans...

It's a veritable Hobson's choice for the people. Both sides are mired in controversies. One side supports big corporations and banks...the deep state which controls america through its tentacles.. is for wars across the world.. addicted to debt... while the other wants america to spend less on costly defence agreements with rich countries .. stop illegal immigrants... better relations with russia...and thinks climate change is a hoax..,

However both sides are votaries of a capitalistic society .... a system which is under seize in all the richest countries...with surmounting unmanageable debt ....

Day by day this ultimate war for the control of the world richest country... which is on the decline... is becoming more and more surreal ... with extreme media of both sides publishing their biased stories..

sadly a lot of truth about the American government and Hillary which has been released by wiki leaks is not being covered by 80% of the press which includes the most powerful media barons.. plus there are publications which are controlled by the richest people in the world who have also contributed to Clinton foundation.. like Carlos Slim...who are hurling unverified sexual accusations against trump... while bill's sexual victims who have come forward are not covered ..imperial rome at its peak...

Indeed a strange brew of events... wonder whether all this is at all affecting decisions of the voters..  america is a broken society where family and marriage are fading institutions ... more than 50% of mothers are single ... and more than 50% of marriages have failed... in these times these kind of sexual misdemeanours really do not make much of an impact...

No body really expects trump to be an angel or a choir boy... especially with a playboy billionaire past... similarly there are innumerable sexual escapades of bill Clinton...which are kept under wraps by the loyal mainstream media... hence I doubt whether all these highly charged innuendos have made any significant impact on the voter minds...

its just heaps of scurrilous accusations which has been discounted by most people... today most people across the world thanks to Hollywood and american tv soap operas have come to accept these frailties of human nature.. and become thick skinned to these rantings....

People have also become impervious to the political and financial corruption which associated with most politicians ... indeed a strange state of being where nothing titillates or shocks most people now... so the battle lines have been drawn ... a bare 2 - 4% difference in polls separates the 2 major candidates... which is well within the margin of error...most of the establishment and media have written off trump...

but still trump is drawing record crowds day after day even after clinton has dropped all the bombs she has....he gave an impassioned speech the other day when he challenged hillary to a drug test... some said trump was high on cocaine.. even that will not stick on teflon coated donald trump.. trump also pleaded with crowd that this was possibly america's last chance to vote for a change ...and also the world's last chance to restructure the deep economic imbalances which are plaguing the global economy...

forces of protectionism and autarky are spreading across the anaemic western world...forces which have gained strength after brexit... winds of change are buffeting the world.. capitalism is in the throes of a major economic depression and downturn dragged down by quagmire of deep ever mounting debt... unemployment .... closure of manufacturing and losing business to lower cost emerging markets... looming everywhere ...

all this has made people restless ... wanting change ... distrustful of politicians who they feel have been responsible for this current state of affairs.. though actually what has led to this is their failed free market economic and business models which are based on hyper competition and have reached their  limits of growth ... symptoms of post mature capitalist societies.... zero growth and negative interest rates...

added to this rising terror and migrants crises.... most advanced economies have become cauldrons of racism, violence, poverty, homelessness, broken marriages, heroin addiction, vandalism, gun shootings... a large dispossessed populace has emerged with nothing left to lose... archetypal Rolling Stones street fight man... and I can't get no satisfaction...time and patience are running away... time is ripe for revolution...



      

The Rise of the Deplorables….

We are indeed living in surreal defining times...some kind of an inflexion point in socio - eco - climate history…. In so many dimensions and planes this real time online human / earth ecosystem is evolving...at  a frenetic pace…. Most of the advanced world mature economies are mired in deep debt and very low / no growth comatose conditions.. Climate change too is surely and steadily witnessing a rising frequency of extreme events… natural resources are also depleting fast….

In these momentous times… in most countries people getting tired of their worsening financial shape, unemployment, migrants crisis, declining economies.. Want change in the elected governments …. Exit from existing economic blocks... trade agreements… scores of countries have seen new leaders and political parties coming to power… global economic power equations are changing.. Its no longer an uni or bi polar world… unipolar since 19th century till 1950s..with Britain / UK dominating till the first world war...thereafter usa till 1960s… when soviet union became a superpower… still usa was the economic powerhouse of the world till the 1980s… when japan rose to prominence…

but by the 90s japan entered its long endless tunnel of economic stagnation… but again japan is an extremely insular closed society… a kind of incestuous society with no foreigners or immigrants… like hitler’s pure aryan race… hence they reached the limits of their growth … now they have reached zero population growth… henceforth they will experience decline in population at the rate of one million per year from a peak of 128 million...hence gradually their gdp will decline…

In the western world europe and usa were enjoying sound economic expansion till 2000.. Though anemic compared to some emerging / brics economies in their growth spurt years… but this was not to continue for long.. Burgeoning debts… declining growth rates.. Which they desperately tried to whip up by increasing immigration… but the economic models mostly capitalistic started to flag… increasing unemployment..interest rates plunging below zero..

Since the late 1990s China had emerged as a major power... an economic powerhouse riding on a strong demographic dividend.. Made its mark felt.. And a multi polar world was created after the break up of the soviet union  …. European union started breaking apart with greece collapse .. several countries started feeling the pinch of debt and slow / no growth … then came the inflexion point brexit… few other countries in europe had changes in government.. Even merkel is finding the carpet being pulled under her ….

A lot changed after 9/11… rise of terror in most parts of the world…. Rise of isis… and then of late the migrants crises in europe due to syria and africa...islamic radical terrorists have made the presence felt in usa, europe, africa and asia…

Its against this backdrop we should analyse the current us election... us has lost its preeminent position in the world.. Run up 20 trillion debt …. Mounting violence...gun shootings...drugs … heroin epidemic...trigger happy police downing blacks… bankrupt states with no money to pay public servants…nexus between corrupt politicians, banks, regulators, corporations..... terror attacks.. Influx of illegal immigrants...climate change extreme events… societal upheavals like marriage becoming a fading institution...the litany goes on and on...the socio pol eco system is spinning out of control basically because the root causes which have led to them remain largely unaddressed… these issues have been dealt copiously through my chants/rants in my blog newgrammaroflife.blogspot.com...root causes like high energy / carbon lifestyles...capitalistic / technological advances which have spawned and fueled a giant consumer society forever wanting new things funded by debt...countries addicted to deficit financing because of living beyond one's means leading to unmanageable debts...big bank / capital market / property driven bubbles in all asset classes...rising inequalities...and so on…

Vast swathes of the populace in us have been disenfranchised … orphaned...swamped by waves of new immigrants who are highly educated and get top salaries on one hand and swarming illegal migrants who are stealing their jobs by accepting far lower wages, rising inequalities...to make matters worse…. due to high cost of production and becoming uncompetitive us companies have moved elsewhere like mexico, china….

Its is precisely due to this angst and uncertainty there was a vacuum which trump has filed...otherwise there is no other way anyone can explain this phenomenon where a playboy billionaire businessman with zilch political experience comes out of nowhere and commands 42% of election polls...by spending only 20% or so of clinton’s well oiled election apparatus... funded by the richest and most powerful people of usa…madly supported by 80% of the big media..despised by leaders of his republican party….indeed strange…all the more interesting as the clintons are supported by the present government, judiciary, large corporations, media, wall street, big money, bushes, top republicans….the entire establishment….a tremendous advantage….indeed the dice is heavily loaded against the anti establishment pro change messiah trump….his rallies are angst ridden rants with loud participation by his fans...

We are witnessing a titanic struggle for keeping the reins of power and the economy in the hands of the establishment….while the dispossessed, the deplorables, less educated….are rising in revolt and rallying under trump inspite of his billionaire status….this scraggly lot led by the quixotic trump...battling against the windmills of the mighty establishment..the capitalists who will go to any extent to keep control of the country...though the economy is in deep shambles…. no one wants to undergo any radical surgery to plug the haemorrhage and set right the failed system….which has bleed to 20 trillion now..and growing by over 2 trillion plus per year... spiralling violence..mounting mental illness..climate change...

Even if trump wins...it will not be easy to set right the economy and all that ails it….indeed a catch 22 situation...it is indeed most surreal the immense armageddon being played out real time online in usa watched and followed by the world….a 24/7 trumpman reality show...basically the americans have to decide between change and status quo...they will get the government they deserve...the media and polls are biased...one really does not know the truth...each camp comes out with results favourable to it...the debates.. too.. are biased against trump..in spite of the clinton leaning hosts...trump came out a winner in the second debate...he has taken the battle into the enemy territory..the establishment is aghast with his aggressive style and fight back...no one had ever talked to the royalty...the clintons...like that...tectonic stuff...the genteel establishment shocked and embarrassed ...while the under trodden are ecstatic ..the results range the spectrum with the slick cnn  on one side and infowars at the other extreme...with incendiary stuff…

There is no doubt if there had been a free election with level playing field trump would have won handsomely….inspite of it he is waging a lone battle with only pence by his side and his family...while the clintons have the entire apparatus of the establishment at their disposal...the next 25 days are going to be most interesting with no holds barred mudslinging...if one were to analyse the struggle...few happenings are baffling me...if the polls show clinton ahead by 4 points or so...and more importantly well over the 272 mark…..i really do not know how trump is able to garner record crowds of over 20,000 at his probably half his rallies.. While clinton is struggling to speak to 2000 people...does this indicate some groundswell tsunami on november 8?......another brexit...a powershift...even after his shocking locker room banter...trump is speaking to record rallies in pennsylvania... anything can happen in the life of a nation from now till nov 8...but overthrowing the well entrenched empire will be well nigh impossible... america will be the real loser if hillary wins...
